Tiny House Standards Proposal Approved

ASTM Tiny House Committee Voted In Favor Of Approving Our Proposal

On July 27th, 2021 we had a stakeholder’s meeting with the new business development team of ASTM. We have been in discussion with the ASTM team to develop new global standards for tiny houses. We have developed a proposal that the new business development team will present to COTCO, the ASTM board that grants new committees.

The Committee on Technical Committee Operations (COTCO) develops and maintains the Regulations Governing ASTM Technical Committees and acts upon recommended changes to the Regulations. COTCO is responsible for the interpretation and enforcement of these regulations, excluding actions on standards. The Committee acts to resolve jurisdictional disputes with respect to scopes of ASTM technical committees. COTCO develops and recommends means for achieving the most efficient operation of the technical committees as related to their scope, structure, development, and planning.

Draft Proposal ASTM Tiny House Standards

The vote was all in favor to present our proposal to COTCO. The proposal is still in draft form and we are possibly going to be making changes if needed before their presentation.  We have the potential to develop standards for tiny houses on wheels, on a foundation, certification, tiny house communities, micro-grid utilities, and more.
